Very neat. I was thinking of building a retro robot to keep around the house and that would be a perfect cover for the head. I also built a Jacob's Ladder, and couldn't find anything tall enough to house it in. Perfect!

I found it in an online garden shop. They are produced in England and it took me a few days of searching to find it. I think it was $35 + $10 for shipping and handling. It is called a french bell cloche.

Dead Man's Party - A one-shot Cthulhu Live script for 6 - 8 players 6 Replies

Hi everyone. A small group of brave men and women (mostly) survived yet another of my Cthulhu Live games on Sunday. It was an original script written for 6 - 8 players run by a keeper and an assis...

Great place for aged paper

So I was recently in Philly touring Independence Hall (and, yes, I did it to see the places were National Treasure was filmed). In the gift shop were the ubiquitous historical documents for sale as...

Inspiration? Head For The Hills

At this very moment, I'm watching Cosmos, with Carl Sagan (regardless of when you read this post). The episode? Encyclopedia Galactica. The episode opens with a recreation of Betty and Barney Hill's supposed alien abduction, the prototype for the abduction phenomenon that sparks the imagination and researches of the UFOlogy community. It puts me to mind of a Cthulhu Live event long planned, but unexecuted.… Continue

Null Echo at Anime Nebraskon (8 Nov, 2009)

For the last 3 years I have ran a LARP for Anime Nebraskon, a local anime con with attendance of 1000-1500. The first year was an anime highschool, last year was Legend of the Five Rings, and this year was Null Echo.

I converted bits and pieces so that the story would fit into a Steampunk/Cthulhu cross-genre with fair results. Unfortunately I was short 3 or 4 players (cons can be finicky).

The pre-game preparation was focused mostly on creating keepsake handouts for the players. I created boar… Continue

The Setting That Time Forgot

A lot of brainstorming was done this past GenCon, and something that occurred to me was the notion of a Cthulhu Live scenario set during pre-historic times. I mean really prehistoric times. As in the caveman days. The idea has stuck with me since then, and it is one I intend to develop. But what would it entail?

Well, first and foremost, it would be set in a primitive time. The spear would be the hight of human technology. Combat is face-to-face and brutal, and if you survive there is li… Continue

Interview with Shirley MacLaine

Some of you many know that I play Cthulhu Live for real, in a manner of speaking, and writing "Ghosthunting" guides to haunted places, notably Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, D.C.

Apropos of that, I had a great chat this evening with Shirley MacLaine for her Independent Expression radio show about haunted places in not just in Maryland and Virginia but around the world! Going into it, I had a presentiment that it would be more challenging than usual, and it was ... Shirley asked me q… Continue
